The city of Chandigarh is more often just a stopover city between Delhi and Amritsar or Delhi and Shimla which was built in 1960th. However, the travelers who are interested to discover the architectural buildings and the urban design of the famous French architect Le Corbusier, it could be a nice discovery.
Amritsar
Amritsar is one of the most symbolic cities in the north as it’s the spiritual capital of Sikhs. Here you will be able to explore the local lifestyle, learn about the Sikhs and their traditions. And, of course, you will discover on of the most famous temples of India, the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib, which is actually the most sacred site for Sikhs. Shimla and McLeod Ganj
The city of Shimla is mostly appreciated by nature lovers and by those who prefers to escape the big cities. It would be interesting for foreigners to mingle with the locals, however it’s also a connecting city to continue the road to McLeod Ganj. Here it’s already another world, the world of Buddhism and the home of Dalai Lama. Here you make different visits to learn everything about Buddhism. It’s also a nice place for yoga retreats.
